About the role idealo is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join its engineering team in Berlin. In this role, you'll help build and improve the technology behind millions of shopping decisions every day. You'll work on applications and services that power marketing channels, product and offer data, traffic tracking, and billing systems. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to work across the stack using React, TypeScript, Kotlin, Kafka, AWS and related technologies. What you'll be doing Lead the development of modern frontend applications using React and TypeScript. Work across the full stack and contribute to backend services and APIs. Design and develop scalable microservices with Kotlin and related technologies. Take ownership of projects from architecture and development through deployment and monitoring. Help shape technical architecture and participate in design and engineering decisions. Improve CI/CD, observability and Infrastructure as Code practices. Build reliable tracking and billing systems in collaboration with marketing and engineering teams. Contribute to code quality through testing, code reviews, pair programming and mentoring. Continuously improve the reliability, scalability and maintainability of the platform. What we're looking for Several years of professional experience with frontend development using TypeScript and/or JavaScript. Strong backend development experience with Kotlin. Solid knowledge of React, Next.js, Spring Boot and REST APIs. Experience working with event-driven systems and Kafka. Experience with Kubernetes and AWS. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CDK or Terraform. Experience with modern CI/CD workflows. Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical projects. Confidence to challenge ideas constructively while working well with different perspectives.
